It's the Wintry Cover Girl!

Wintry is a modern, block based snowflake quilt.

The pattern includes two colour versions - this is Version Two!

Version Two has one colour snowflake and sashing with multi-coloured block backgrounds - perfect for sharing your favourite solids, or even playing with an ombre layout!

I used 16 different Art Gallery Fabric Pure Solids in this quilt for the feature fabrics.

The colours I used are: Amethyst, Hydrangea, Wisteria, Aero Blue, Ocean Waves, Crystalline, Dark Citron, Olive Oil, Lemon Tart, Marmalade, Quartz Pink, Crystal Pink, Cosmos, Rock Candy, Sweet Pink and Festival Fuchsia.

The White is White Linen.

I loooooove the backing I chose for this quilt. It's the perfect winter print from Ruby Star Society's Winterglow line!

The beautiful snowflake quilting is done by Aspen Grove Quilting.

The Wintry Quilt is available in my shop now in PDF, printed and wholesale formats.

You know I had to make a scrappy version of the Wintry quilt pattern!

Wintry is available in two colour way options - this is Version 1 - the one with multicoloured snowflakes and sashing!

I had the best time choosing a range of cheerful fabrics from my stash.

The background used in this quilt is my favourite - Cotton and Steel Freckles.

This quilt is 9 blocks - the crib size, although I'm planning to add another row to make it the small throw - the perfect size for snuggling in Winter.

The Wintry pattern is in my shop now in PDF, printed and wholesale formats.

Bear Camp - The Cover Girl!

If you recognize these colours, you're not wrong!

The cover version of my Bear Camp quilt is the scrappy/stash version I made using the leftover Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids from my Birdling cover quilt!

These leftovers were perfect to use in the Bear Camp pattern!

I used Crystal Pink as background in this sample, but I think a blue or purple would be amazing too.

Bear Camp can be made scrappy or with fat quarters, and comes in one size - 60" x 60".

It's a new pattern!

My latest pattern is called Bear Camp, and it's available now.

Bear Camp is a modern, over-sized quilt block that is perfect for beginner quilters, or a quilter looking for a quick project! I can sew this quilt top in 4 hours - making this the perfect weekend project!

The pattern is a mash-up of the traditional bear paw, log cabin and old maid's puzzle quilt blocks and can be made using fat quarters or with your stash. It comes in one size - 60" x 60".

In this sample I used a bundle of the new Heather Ross line called Country Mouse - isn't it the sweetest??

Bear Camp is the perfect quilt size for snuggling with on the couch or at camp.

I'm excited to share a new free pattern for my followers!

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I decided to design a paper pieced heart on a whim one January Sunday afternoon - what better way to spend a cold winter day?

The pattern is called the Simple Heart FPP block - mainly because it is just a simple heart! I created templates in three different sizes - 3", 6" and 9" - to allow for all kinds of sewing creativity!

This pattern is great for those new to FPP since it doesn't have a lot of pieces and isn't too fussy. It's a great way to use up scrap fabric and to show off your favourite prints!

I'll be hosting an Instagram Live demonstration on this block on Saturday, February 4th 2023. If you can't catch the live I'll be saving it into my profile for you to watch later!

Most of the fun is deciding what to make with these hearts! The sizes are common - so they could fit into many different projects. I've included a long list of ideas in the pattern to get you started!

The smallest hearts fit perfectly into my Cabin Nights sawtooth star block. I made three stars, and added the extra bear paw points. The stars then fit perfectly into my Starry Night Table Runner Pattern! What serendipity!

The 9" heart also would fit into the Starry Night Table Runner pattern on its own, or use it in Cabin Nights to replace the middle star and points completely! I just added the log cabin strips to the 9" heart, adding one extra round to make the block 18.5 inches. It made the perfect throw pillow cover!

It's here! The Scrappy Steps pattern was shared with newsletter subscribers this week!

I've been wanting to write the instructions for sewing this quick Courthouse Steps quilt for while. I first made it in 2021 using loads of scrap 2.5" strips. It made for a super fun, colourful quilt, and was super popular on Instagram!

I always wanted to make it again, and I finally did! This time I used two Ruby Star Society Jolly Darlings jelly rolls and was more intentional about how I placed colours in the blocks. This created a fun pattern!

Courthouse Steps quilts are so fun because they can look so different depending on how colour is used and blocks are turned. I include a few different ideas and mock ups in the pattern, and I know I'll be making another one in the future!

The Scrappy Steps pattern is going to be free through the month of December, and after that it will be going into my PDF pattern shop for a small fee.

Introducing the North Star FPP block pattern!

This is a foundation paper piecing block pattern that can be incorporated into all kinds of sewing projects.

The pattern comes with templates for three different sizes: 6", 9" and 12". This allows for more variety in how the block can be used!

If you are new to FPP I also include a link to a video tutorial that walks you through sewing a block.

FPP is a fun skill to add to your quilting repertoire!

This is the 6 inch block made with pink and red Christmas scraps.

It was the perfect size to add to a stocking!

I used the free stocking pattern from Piece Fabric Co - thank you so much for sharing it!

The 12 inch size was my first sample, and my vision for this pattern.

I wanted a framed star to add to my Christmas decor, so I made it!

I used the Art Gallery Fabrics Christmas in the City collection and

the frame is from Wayfair (I removed the glass).

My final sample was a 9 inch size in Art Gallery Fabrics Pure Solids.

My plan is to make two more and make a table runner with them!

I will use my free Starry Night table runner pattern and replace the star blocks with these!

They will fit perfectly into the pattern.

In September - October I hosted the Cabin Nights Quilt Along on Instagram!

It was the very first sew along for me to host, and it was so much fun! We had amazing participation and prizes from loads of generous sponsors! You'll have to visit the hashtag #cabinnightsqal on Instagram to see all the beautiful versions of the pattern that were made!

I used a Ruby Star Society Honey collection fat eighth bundle. I had to modify the cutting instructions a little bit for using F8s instead of fat quarters, but it was completely doable, and made for an extra scrappy quilt!

We broke down the steps of sewing the quilt over six weeks. From choosing fabric, to cutting, so sewing all the stars, then adding the bear paw points, log cabin strips, and finally sewing the blocks together with the sashing. I sent out weekly emails with tips and photos along the way!

It was super fun! Thank you so much to all those who participated, and to all the sponsors for helping out with the weekly prizes!

The best part of the Cabin Nights quilt is taking it along on a cabin getaway! The sew along happened to end on my birthday week, and we went to the lake for the weekend to celebrate. It was the perfect way to end the sew along!

I had a wonderful group of quilters test the Cabin Nights pattern for me before release. They all made such beautiful quilts, and provided extra inspiration for others!

The first quilt, with the cutest cow ever, is made by Mary of @sewmaryhappy. She is the most wonderful Quilty friend I've met on Instagram, and she's starting to write her own quilt patterns too! I can't wait to start sewing her scrap happy patterns!
